I've been really inspired by Marie Antoinette lately. I'm working on a collection of Marie Antoinette prints. Here is the fist one:

it's here...
Christmas time that is. I love love love this time of year. It's so magical and happy. I usually pick a theme at home when decorating for the holidays. My tree went up on Wednesday but my family is coming over and we are decorating it tonight. I am thinking that I may go traditional this year but that doesn't mean that I can't lust over these beautiful pictures.
I don't think my husband would be happy if our house was this girly for the holiday but if I ever have a daughter you better believe she will have a pink tree in her room!

color blocking
I know it's a little early for spring but the new collection from Kate Spade has got me thinking about daffodils and tulips already. I love how she uses a neutral base and combines it with a bright, almost neon, pop of color. And that necklace is to die for. I am feeling a little DIY coming on...
Also, I added some hot pink satin bows to my glitter shoes. I plan on rocking them for Thanksgiving. I'll take some photos of the shoes in action.

glitter shoes: diy
Sparkly shoes seem to be all the rage this season. All the high end designers seem to have gone glitter crazy and I am loving it! I have been lusting over that pair of Kate Spade's for months now.
Since I do not have the money to splurge on these babies I thought I might try my hand at a little DIY. It was a bit more time consuming than I thought (there is a lot of layering and waiting for things to dry) but the results are totally worth is. Check it out:
Step 1
Start out with a boring old pair of shoes that need a little makeover.
Flats or heels will work.
I got my shoes from Target forever ago.
Step 2
Cover the shoe entirely with Elmer's white glue.
Step 3
Glitter!
I mixed lots of different colors together to get the effect I wanted but they are mostly pink.
Step 4
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until the shoes are thoroughly covered.
Allow each layer to dry in between coats.
I did 3.
Step 5
Let the last layer dry really well.
I let mine dry over night.
Paint a layer of polyurethane over the glitter and let dry 3-4 hours.
This seals in the glitter so you don't leave a trail behind you everywhere you go.
(as cool as that sounds)
Step 6
Apply one more layer of polyurethane for good luck.
Let dry over night.

Wear your new shoes with pride. I plan on basing my whole holiday wardrobe around these shoes. What goes with pink glitter.....

hello dolly
When I was little, my best friend's dad would bring me home a Matryoshka or nesting doll from Russia every year. I still have my collection in the basement somewhere. I think I may have to dig it out. Here are a few Matryoshka inspired goodies I found browsing some of my favorite stores.

i heart emma watson
In honor of the new Happy Potter opening next week I wanted to do a post on one of my favorite girl crushes, Emma Watson. We've watched her grow up from an awkward and sometimes nerdy preteen to a beautiful and very fashionable young woman. And she's got an awesome new pixie haircut that I am so jealous of.
Emma, can I please borrow this dress?
ps I can't wait to see Harry Potter!

rainbows are my favorite
I used to be very into neutrals. If you were to look into my closet you would final a whole heck of a lot of black and grey. But I now when shopping or looking through my favorite home decor magazine I fin;d myself gravitating towards more bold color combinations. My favorite is when you walk into a store and all the clothes are color coordinated on the rack. I seriously get so excited! I found these pictures browsing online. Don't they just make you so happy! I feel an overwhelming urge to redo my entire house. I forget where they come from but if anyone knows let me know.

new wedding collection
I've decided to offer a new price sensitive collection of wedding invitations and stationary over at my Etsy shop. I totally get that not every bride (myself included) can spend hundreds of dollars on wedding invitations and I think every bride, no matter what her budget, should have the option to have unique, one of a kind things for their special day. The new collections features whimsical pen and ink illustrations (with more being added every week) on a single layer of rich heavy card stock. The over all vibe of the collection is very clean and simple with just a pop of color. They are very Mod looking to me which I love.

there's a new girl in town
I just love this girl. She reminds me of Alice in Wonderland. The quote is from Julie Andrews! I love Julie Andrews too. Which of course means that by default I really love this new print. She makes me want to break out in song and make clothes from used drapes. Right now I am working on some new wedding invitation designs and I just got an order for engagement party invitations with a snowman theme! Check them out.
